Euro 2008 in Platanias

The whole village, tonight, rocks to the beat of Euro 2008. Tonight we'll enjoy the match in fron of a huge TV (possibly at Plus Sportscafe) with our friends the Swedish! I hope we'll beat them anyway (hello Lars!)

Summer!

We're back 'cause summer is back! Still nothing special to report but a really annoying weather. C'mon we want it HOT!

Winter in Platanias!

In the winter time our village is deserted and very peaceful in contrast to the summer when there is a large influx of tourists. Living near to Platanias has its benefits as you can choose when to visit the vibrant summer crowd or stay in the quiet of your own home. It has to be mentioned that Platanias has the only Bank and Post Office that is open except for Chania in the region.

Original Greek Salad (Horiatiki) Recipe

This is the way to make an Original Greek Salad (Horiatiki). Dedicated to all our former and future visitors!

INGREDIENTS
tomatoes, peeled and sliced
1 cucumber, washed and cut in thin slices. Do not peel the cucumber!
1 green pepper, cut finely in thin stripes
1 large onion, finely sliced
At least 100 gr hard feta cheese, from the barrel or Mizithra cheese
Black Selino olives
Capper
parsley
oregano
Thick salt
Extra virgin olive oil
A good vinegar

METHOD
Place all ingredients on a salad bowl, salt them, pour vinegar, oil and mix very very well.

Lots of lazy people don't bother visiting Pano Platanias up on the hill. Big Mistake! there you will find some interesting places to stay, cool restaurants and tavernas and you'll enjoy the great view!
